AI Content Policy
World Journal of Economics, Business, and Management advocates for the responsible, ethical, and transparent application of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and other AI-assisted technologies in the field of scholarly publishing. While such tools can be employed to help authors with the preparation of their manuscripts, they must by no means take the place of independent academic judgment, critical analysis, or the original intellectual input provided by the authors.
Acceptable Use
Authors can use GenAI tools for some editorial help, for example to improve language quality, grammar, spelling, sentence structure, formatting, or the overall readability. However, the use of AI must still be under the full control and subject to critical scrutiny by the authors, who are entirely responsible for reviewing, refining, and verifying all content that has been assisted by AI before it is submitted.
Author Responsibility
The authors are entirely responsible and accountable for all aspects of the work they submit, even if AI technologies have been used in preparing it. The authors have to make sure that:
· The manuscript is the result of their own careful scholarly research and shows their original intellectual contribution.
· All empirical analyses, economic models, business data, interpretations, and conclusions are accurate and backed by solid evidence.
· The use of AI in writing does not result in the creation of false data, the inclusion of hallucinated or incorrect citations, the presence of misleading arguments, or algorithmic bias.
· The work conforms completely to the journal's publication ethics and to its academic integrity standards.
Transparency and Disclosure
Whenever generative AI or AI-assisted tools are used in the preparation of a manuscript to an extent beyond that of simple language editing, authors should include a formal declaration in a separate statement which appears right before the References section.
Suggested Statement Format
Declaration of AI-Assisted Writing
The authors used [Name of AI Tool or Service, Version] when preparing this manuscript for [brief description of purpose, e.g., improving language clarity, sentence structure, or organization]. They then carefully reviewed, revised, and checked all the material that had been generated or edited and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the final manuscript.
Note that it is not necessary to disclose the routine use of standard writing tools, basic spell and grammar checkers, reference management programs (such as Mendeley or Zotero), or conventional statistical software.
Research Integrity
Generative AI should under no circumstances be employed in creating, modifying, or falsifying empirical research data, financial disclosures, corporate case studies, survey results, statistical models, bibliographic citations, or any substantial visual materials (such as figures, charts, and tables). Authors are required to be completely open about their methods and to ensure that all the findings they report are genuine, reproducible, and obtained in an ethical manner.
Prohibition of AI Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools, software programs, and large language models (LLMs) are not entitled to be listed as authors or co-authors. Since AI systems cannot be held responsible for research results, cannot give their final approval of a manuscript, cannot reply to comments from reviewers, and cannot meet the legal and ethical requirements that pertain to authorship, authorship must be limited to human researchers who have made substantial and verifiable contributions to the work.
Editorial Oversight and Actions
The Editorial Office has the right to ask for further explanation or supporting documentation regarding the use of AI tools at any stage of the editorial triage, the peer review process, or the production that takes place after acceptance. Should any use of AI be found to be undeclared, deceptive, or inappropriate in a way that affects the originality, validity, or ethical integrity of the manuscript, the journal will take the necessary actions, such as desk rejecting the manuscript, issuing a correction, withdrawing it, or carrying out a formal retraction, in line with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
