Abstract

Modern geoinformatics serves as the foundation for sustainable civil infrastructure, natural resource management, and reducing environmental hazards. This research article looks into the integration of geodetic frameworks, Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to tackle important socioeconomic and geomechanical challenges, focusing on regional land surveying and subsidence mechanics in Nigeria. 

We explore the dual role of geospatial engineering. First, it acts as a technical framework for geodetic control and tracking deformation. Second, it projects a socio-technical framework where effective communication within organizations and the development of human skills affect project success. By using local datasets along with global geodetic methods, this article shows how spatial data infrastructures support sustainable development, monitor local deformation in geologically vulnerable areas like Lokpaukwu (Umunneochi LGA, Abia State), and outlines how interdisciplinary communication improves professional surveying practices.
