The global transition to renewable energy is central to addressing climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and ensuring sustainable development. However, investments in renewable energy remain complex, shaped by political, economic, technological, and social factors. A top-down framework provides a structured approach to analyzing renewable energy investment from macro-level determinants to sectoral and project-level decisions. This research article develops and applies such a framework, examining global policy trends, financial mechanisms, and institutional structures that influence renewable energy investments. It also highlights challenges, risks, and future directions for fostering an enabling environment that balances profitability with sustainability.
